- Bird Island Nature Reserve
West Coast National Park
This park surrounds the Langebaan Lagoon and hosts an array of wetland bird species. Tourists come from all over the world in September to watch the spectacular return of these birds from other continents. Mammals are also seen here, among them eland, hartebees and the Cape grysbok.
Bird Island Nature Reserve
This reserve is located on an island close to Lambert’s Bay. This is an important breeding ground for birds and serves as an educational as well as tourist site. What makes it so popular is the fact that it is so accessible – one can reach the island by ferry.
Darling Wine Route
The route has 5 wine cellars that take full advantages of the cold ocean breeze and long, hot summer days to produce world-class wines. The route is about an hours’ drive from Cape Town and all 5 cellars can be visited in one day – making this a perfect one-day trip.
Langebaan
This is a popular seaside resort around 100km from Cape Town. Here you will find Caribbean like beaches that fringes emerald-green waters, water sport facilities as well as a modern country club known as Club Mykonos. Also, visit the West Coast Fossil Park to view Langebaan’s interesting ecological history.
Lamberts Bay Crayfish Festival
This festival is held annually in Lamberts Bay on the West Coast. Here you have the opportunity to feast on fresh crayfish as well as listen to some of the country’s finest rock musicians. Also enjoy bungee jumping, beer tents and aerial displays at this festive occasion.
